A close look (which few will actually take) at Fiducia Supplicans, the Pope’s declaration which offers guidelines on pastoral blessings to people in “irregular relationships,” will reveal that—like most of his statements—it is not heretical…though it is certainly vague enough to lead some people into heterodoxy, especially those who read the document with an agenda of their own. 

The tendency to read Francis’s texts through an ideological lens is present on both “sides”: whether it’s progressives who wishfully find hope that he is changing doctrines, or radtrads who find blatant heresy, further fueling their tirades against the alleged “anti-pope” who is leading the Catholic Church toward its demise.
