As I had pointed out in an August 2022 article for The American Conservative, the “Madonna of academe” Camille Paglia’s second wave of popularity is upon us. And as evidenced by the viral surge of Paglia clips on X and Instagram over the last week, the wave is nowhere near crashing.

Though meme pages that were exclusively dedicated to disseminating Paglian content like @pagliaquotes have disappeared from the ether, others like (friend of the pod) Eric (@hamburger.helpless) have been doing their due diligence, artfully montaging Paglia video and audio clips. Seriously, Eric deserves an award for his service to the public. His archive is a true treasure. (The creator of the PAGLIAWAVE YouTube compilation also deserves credit, as well as friend of the pod @camillepawglia)

But why does Paglia’s content continue to surface on the internet? What exactly is behind her appeal?
