the queer cath vibe shift

So First Things published my review of Luca Guadagnino’s Queer (which I don’t recommend viewing…it’s gross and boring). And I was rather shocked by how little flack it got—especially from the queers (except for a weird guy on X who writes in olde English, and a writer who I happen to really respect).

But a lot of other people were shocked that an outlet like First Things published a piece that cited queer theory and Quentin Crisp.

As I keep trying to tell you people, the vibe is shifting—especially when it comes to all things queer. I told you this in June 2023 when I caught a whiff of change in the gays’ attitude toward Pride Month. I tried to tell you again in June 2024 that we are currently entering the Post-Gay Era. And last week,

Pieter Valk LPC
wrote for our Substack about how Gen Z’s sexual fluidity is changing the future of ex-gay therapy and discourse about sexual orientation in Christian circles.

I wanted to focus here on how the discourse on sexuality in Catholic circles is currently undergoing a major vibe shift, and also to offer my spicy hot take on priests who set out to “build a bridge” between the Catholic Church and the queers.
